Nicolas Cage is 'a little bit homeless' after massive sinkhole swallows his Malibu driveway

Nicolas Cage has revealed he is currently living out of a suitcase after a massive sinkhole wreaked havoc on his Malibu property. The Oscar winner admitted he is "a little bit homeless" at the moment, with his €9.7 million ($10.5m) mansion currently unsafe to inhabit.

The drama kicked off in September when heavy rain and coastal erosion caused a 25-foot-deep crater to open up right outside his front door. According to The Mirror, the sinkhole didn't just take out the driveway; it also swallowed a construction porta-potty and sections of his privacy fence.

Speaking at L.A. Comic Con, Cage explained that his hotel-bound status put a dampener on his Halloween plans. According to Page Six, the actor lamented that he wouldn't have his "normal trick-or-treaters" to enjoy this year, though he still planned to take his four-year-old daughter, August, out for sweets in Santa Monica.

It’s not all doom and gloom for the Longlegs star, though. According to the Los Angeles Times, Cage has already filed emergency permits to install sandbags and shore up the property against further erosion. While he waits for the ground to stop moving, he’s reportedly spending his nights watching Stanley Kubrick classics in his temporary hotel digs.
