Martha Stewart throws 'Today' host under the bus for THAT 'homeless' Halloween costume disaster

Martha Stewart is passing the buck faster than a hot tray of scones. The lifestyle mogul has revealed that her widely-slated 'homeless' Halloween costume was actually a last-minute Plan B, all thanks to Today show host Craig Melvin and a bit of stray chocolate.

Speaking at a sales rally in Orlando this week, the 85-year-old claimed she was originally planning a much cleaner look. However, she alleges that 'what’s-his-name' Craig—who was dressed as Snoop Dogg at the time—spilled chocolate ganache all over her white sweater during a cooking segment. Left with just ten minutes to get ready for a party, Martha says she decided to lean into the mess.

According to footage obtained by TMZ, Stewart told the crowd: 'I looked at myself and I said, "You look really hungry and homeless."' She then scribbled an 'I am hungry' sign and hit the town. The resulting Instagram post, which featured the multi-millionaire in tattered clothes with 'dirt' smeared on her face, was quickly deleted following a global outcry.

The new 'chocolate made me do it' defence comes just days after Martha issued a groveling apology on Instagram. She previously admitted the outfit was 'insensitive and not funny' after initially claiming it was meant to 'raise awareness' for poverty. Now it seems the only thing she's raising is an eyebrow at poor Craig Melvin's clumsy hands.
