Gillian Anderson has reportedly found herself in a bit of a West End stand-off after a video emerged of her telling superfans to clear out of the front row. The actress, currently starring in 'Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?' at London’s Soho Place, was filmed at the stage door telling a group of dedicated followers that their presence in the prime seats was "so distracting."

According to The Guardian, the Sex Education star didn't mince her words when she spotted familiar faces in the stalls for the umpteenth time. "You guys cannot sit in the front row. I do not care; you cannot sit in the front row," she told the fans, adding that coming 20 times to the same spot would "drive me mad." It seems playing the high-strung Martha is enough of a challenge without knowing every blink of your audience by heart!

The 58-year-old later took to X to clear the air, explaining that she actually goes back 20 years with the women in question. According to The Independent, Anderson urged the public not to be negative towards them but stood by her plea for a bit of space, noting that in such an intimate venue, the cast can see everything.

Gillian is just the latest star to tackle theatre etiquette head-on.
