‘In a word, no’: Bill Murray admits worldwide fame hasn’t bought him happiness on Irish golf tour

Hollywood icon Bill Murray has revealed that decades of global stardom haven't exactly been a bed of roses. While filming his brand-new docuseries, *A Course Called Ireland*, the 76-year-old actor was asked point-blank if being famous actually makes him happy. His response? A very blunt, “In a word, no,” according to The Independent.

The *Caddyshack* star didn't stop there, admitting that navigating life in the spotlight is far from easy. According to the Irish Independent, Murray confessed he's constantly having "new revelations" about how to handle the attention, noting that the celebrity lifestyle certainly "isn't for everyone." He even joked that if he weren't famous, his grumpy antics would likely have earned him a few more "cuts and bruises" from the general public.

It wasn't all doom and gloom on the greens, though. Murray did acknowledge there's a "lot of goodwill" from fans who tell him his films helped them through rough patches, which he admits "feels great." The six-part series sees Bill wandering from Cork to Donegal with author Tom Coyne, dodging selfie-seekers and occasionally ditching his production crew to catch a local folk concert.

The show features a fair share of Irish charm, with cameos from the likes of Chris O’Dowd and Joanne McNally. Despite his reservations about fame, Bill seems right at home on Irish soil, even if he’d prefer to trade the constant camera flashes for the peace and quiet of a rainy afternoon at Old Head.
